Post 817 and the Ladies Auxiliary sponsored a youth essay contest. The
winners received cash awards but all participants received certificates,
pencils, and enjoyed pizza provided by the Post.
Post 817's 4th. grade teacher Jeff Gard was named
2008 Iowa Department "Teacher of the Year."
