The Boone HY-Vee teamed with the VFW, American Legion and Auxiliary, and the Marine
corps League to donate and place statues at the Veteran's Memorial on Story Street.
Francis Steele VFW Post 817, Arthur Lantz American Legion Post 56, and the Fred K. Deaver Marine Corps League all of Boone grilled hot
dogs at the Boone Fareway Store to raise money for the "Coming Home Fund."  A special thanks to Culligan, Frito Lay, Sara Lee, and
Fareway for donating the hot dogs, buns, water, chips, and condiments for this project.  Over $1650 was raised form this event!
Members of  VFW Post 817, American Legion Post 56,
and the Fred K. Deaver Marine Corps League recently
donated $5675.58 to the "Coming Home Fund."  A total
of $7800.00 was needed.  The balance was paid by the
National VFW through their Military Assistance Program

The Boone Veterans Council is helping deliver Christmas trees to US military troops overseas. The Enchanted Valley
Tree Farm owned by Joe and Janice Ruetter donated five real Christmas trees as part of the nationwide "Trees for
Troops" program. This holiday season, "Trees for Troops" hopes to collect more than 11,000 real trees from 27 states.
The Boone Veterans Council cut, packaged, and will deliver the trees to a pickup point in Des Moines.
POW/MIA Day was observed recently at Post 817.
