League team won the
Iowa State championship

Local school children doing their part along with Post 817 in
donating food items to the Red Rock Community Food Bank as
part of "Make A Difference Day."
Post 817 and the Ladies Auxiliary sponsored a essay project for local elementary school children on "What the Flag Means to Me."
The winners were given a pizza party, received flag magnets, pencils, and flags. Auxiliary president Pam Jones along with
Commander Pete Jones are shown presenting the awards. A special thanks to Mr. Gard, 4th. Grade teacher along with all his
students for their efforts. The essays were truly outstanding!

Post 817 has a season ending pizza party for the girls Little League ball team the Post is
proud to sponsor. All the kids and their parents had a great time and the pizza was super!
Post 817 along with the Boone Veteran's Council cooking "Dogs and Burgers" at Veteran's Park on
Story St. to benefit the Boone Babe Ruth baseball program.
Post 817 providing reflective Halloween "Trick or Treat" bags to
children of Franklin and Trinity elementary schools. Presenting the
bags are Commander Pete Jones and Auxiliary President Pam Jones
along with Franklin School principal Dan Gould.

Local scouts were our special guests
for our famous biscuits and gravy
In a joint effort of VFW Post 817 and Auxiliary along with the American Legion
and Auxiliary, the flags of all 50 states along with the US flag were purchased
and donated to the Boone Middle School Media Center. In the far left photo are
VFW Commander Pete Jones and Auxiliary President Pam Jones. Far right are
Lorraine McVicker Legion Auxiliary President and Dick Thul Legion Commander.
