Post 817 wins "National Community Service" award at
2007 National VFW Convention in Kansas City, MO. The
award was formally presented to Post 817  Saturday,
September, 29 at the Iowa Department Fall Pow-Wow by
National Commander In Chief,  George J. Lisicki.
Congratulations!
This replica of the USS Iowa BB-61 was constructed from
"scratch" to 1/100 scale. It is completely motorized including
the screws and gun turrets.  It was built and donated by Sr.
Vice Commander Tom Pietz and is on display in the Post

Department of Iowa "Voice of Democracy"
competition.
